Zach Bryan - Great American Bar Scene

I admit I was a bit worried when I heard Zach Bryan announcing yet another new album less than a year after his latest one. I feared that the quality control may suffer with an output of such high frequency. But after the first as well as the twentieth (or so) listen I can say: my worries were unjustified. This guy is on a roll. While I definitely think that his records belong in our Country bin, you can always hear that his influences go beyond his core genre. What I love most about his music is the heartland rock touch, that vibe that often scans as sad but always let’s hope shimmer through in the tradition of great American songwriters like Bruce Springsteen who rightfully gives his blessing with an appearance on “Sandpaper”. I try to be cautious with superlatives, but he may have laid the foundation to eventually reach the status of generational songwriter, capturing the “now” while always respecting and keeping his eyes on the past. Is “Oak Island” the song of the year so far? That lead guitar tone. 👌- Manu
